1. Where can I adopt an animal from animal control?

Animals are available for adoption at the Animal Shelter, but citizens must contact Animal Control to make an appointment to view adoptable animals. Contact Animal Control at 918-299-6311 option 8, or email Animal Control to make arrangements.

2. What are the steps in adopting a pet?

• Once you have decided on adopting an animal, you will need to fill out an adoption form. If approved, the animal will be scheduled for surgery and vaccines.
• Adoption fee is paid at City Hall upon approval of application.
• We cannot guarantee the animal’s health. We strongly recommend that you take it to a veterinarian within two weeks of adoption.
• If for some reason the animal is not a good fit, you are able to return the animal back to Animal Control. No refund will be given.

3. Where do adoption animals come from?

The animals were impounded and not claimed by an owner.

4. Will my adopted animal be healthy?

We cannot guarantee the health of any adopted animal; however, a first visit to the veterinarian is recommended.

5. How much does it cost to adopt a pet?

• Cats - $50.00. This includes spay/neuter, rabies vaccine, FERCP vaccine and deworming.
• Dogs - $75.00. This includes spay/neuter, rabies vaccine, DHPP vaccine and deworming (intestinal).

6. Should I take my new pet to a veterinarian?

To be sure your pet is healthy; we strongly recommend that you take it to a veterinarian within two weeks of adoption. Not all animal diseases have symptoms right away, but a veterinarian will be able to identify any health-related problems. The vaccinations included with the adoption are not good for a lifetime and do not cover all diseases your pet may have been exposed to prior to adoption.
