Location: We are located in the Jenks City Hall, 211 North Elm Street in Jenks, Oklahoma 74037. We meet in the Senior Citizens and Community Room located on the first floor (across from the Jenks Police Department).
Hours of Operation: The Center is open on Tuesdays and Fridays (except Holidays) from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Membership: We welcome anyone 55 years or older who live in Jenks or surrounding communities to become a member. Dues are $5.00 a year which runs October 1 through September 30.
Our seniors enjoy cards, regular dominoes, Chicken Foot, Mexican Train, puzzles, and other activities during the morning hours. Guest speakers offer information relevant to seniors and entertainment is provided throughout the year for the enjoyment of the group. We celebrate the holidays with themed activities.
Our members enjoy playing Bridge, Spades, Rummikub and Wii bowling in the afternoons.
Free Oil Painting classes are offered on Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for members of our organization.
Once a month we offer a Movie Day, Game and Pizza Day, Bingo and Bunco.
Special speakers on various topics and entertainment programs are from 10:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. We ask your courtesy in giving attention to our speakers and entertainers. You are asked to put away all games, place cell phones on silent and refrain from talking during the special programs. Speakers selling services or products are prohibited. Members are prohibited form selling crafts or other products.
In addition to the above activities, we utilize our bus to take our seniors on various trips and outings which include museums, tours of historic places, musicals, meals at restaurants, movies and other activities.
Transportation: We have a 14-passenger bus that is used to transport Senior Citizens to and from weekly luncheons for those members who do not have transportation. If you need a ride and live in the City of Jenks, please call our Coordinator at 918-299-1700 to arrange for a ride. Pick-up time is around 8:30 a.m. On special trips, if Activity Sign-Up list is full, please add your name to the Wait list in case of a cancellation.
Meals: Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. Please refrain from visiting during announcements.
Cook: Our Center’s cook prepares beans, heavy stew or soup and cornbread on Tuesdays and a meat dish on Fridays. Our menu is included on the monthly calendar.
Donation of Food: We ask that our members either provide a side dish to add to the luncheon or make a $5.00 donation. For those bringing food, each member should bring a covered dish or dessert large enough to feed 6 to 8 members. (Please note: 1 can of vegetables will not feed 6 to 8 members). Couples should bring two small covered dishes or one large dish. Food should be cooked, ready to serve and at center by 11:00 a.m. If you do not bring a dish/dessert we ask for a donation of $5.00. Cookies or breakfast treats are not considered a covered dish, but are appreciated as a morning snack. Upon arrival, please be sure to sign in with the door greeter and mark the correct column – food or donation.
First Time Guest: 55 years or older, no charge for lunch.
Serving Order for Lunch: Coordinator will call table row numbers (1–5) for you to get your lunch. Please go through the food line before picking a dessert. Door greeters, guests and birthdays get to go first. Please take only what you can eat.
Voting Eligibility: Members must have paid their dues to vote for issues pertaining to the Senior Center.
